He call him back and said ‘ Hey tom did you give the Gig away ? he said no it is still availabe he said can you get There stave told him that he is in pensacola Florida 3 and half Hours away so he drive to jacksonville Florida and that night He made 150$ The club owner said you are funnier than the guy we hired if you stay tommorrow night i’m gonna give you another 150 …. That is 300$ he get on the phone and steve call chuck sutton and said hey man is the Gig still availble At the showtime He answered yeah we got one opining left steve said i#ll be there and then he called eastern Airlines who used to be open back then they had special for 99$ going from jacksonville Florida to new york trip steve parked his car at the airport and he flew out everthing he has was in two bags He made it to the apollo and said hey man i’m here He said you can’t stay here couse you come on till the late show Tonight steve said i ain’t got nowwhere to go if you just let me stay in this building i aint gonna move around nothing i ain’t got now where to go i am in Harlem i can’t go back out here i got these two bags i got victim wrote all over me man so he said All right if you go up staris don’t come down he put steve in the dressing room on the sixth floor Thats where all the comedians was steve stayed up there and got hungry around 3:00 so he went down stairs Dude named alter lison steve said hey man and he answered i thought i told you don’t come down them damn steps steve said let me go to that KFC i saw on the corner just let me get some chicken I’ll come right back he said if you Ain’t back in 20 minutes you aint getting in this building steve Ran to the KFC and bought some chicken
The comedians started coming in the building they sart coming up on the sixth floor steve meet this guy named D.L.Hughley and introduced him self and D.L.Hughley also introduced him self and steve still sitting there anoher guy come in named Dwayne johnson then another one named jamie foxx They didn’t even know each other. None of them were famous—it was 1991 and then they gave everybody the line up steve was the last show of the night steve did not go until 11:00 D.L.Hughley went downstrais and got booed off Dwayne johnson got booed off jamie foxx went down there got booed the booed jamie then jamei started singing and then thex start clapping and jamei had they a** then he went back to them jokes and they got his A** so steve walk down and see jamie sitting on the steps steve said hay man hang in there jamei answed that never happend to me before this is crazy ” jamie fox one of the talented peaple in all of comedy ” so steve wrote out this joke ” mike Tyson had got in a fight in Harlem with this heavyweight named mitch green Mike hit the dude in the eye in the store now he was on the news his eye was swollen the joke steve wrote was about they was they was interviewing Mitch Green and he was telling eveybody what happend but his eye took over the interview and steve wrote this joke that his eye started talking ” i’ll tell you what happend “ The apollo man they went crazy that they lost their mind steve got standing ovation and walked off stage crying……
steve made 750$ for being on tv for one night steve himself siad that he never made 750$ telling jokes in one night that was first appearance for steve and couple weeks later Sinbad was the host of the show he got this job diffrent world and so he quit and so mark curry become the host and then Mark Curry got hanging with MR Cooper and he quit and they said to steve “Would you come back to new york and host the amateur night for us to just try you out ” steve answered no problem and and went to new york and hosted amateur night But eveytime steve and the others went to commericial break steve was supposed …. to let the warm up act take over but steve knows somthing speicial not to let the warm up act do that Cause he would change the attitde 0f the crowd cause Apollo was a wild place .Steve stayed there an perfome the warm up and the hosting at the same time And thats how steve made his first appearace on tv …..Steve hosted showtime at Apollo and ended up being the longest running host in the history ……… Steve did that show for 8 years Nobody ever did it for eight years

In your life everybody has a turn back moments you have a moment where you could go forward or you can give up but the thing you have to keep in mind before you give upis that you give up the guarantee is it will never happen That’s the guarntee of quitting That it will never happen no way under the sun The only way possibility remains that it can happen is if you never give up no matter what Because god is always coming he’s never too late At your worst moment when they told Steve to be in newyork steve saw no way he could get there but that God though He make the phone ring and steve end up in Florida and he made 300$ then get the chance to go in new york almost make thousand dollars …….
